The IBSF Master of Science in Islamic Banking & Finance is an 18-month advanced postgraduate programme designed to prepare professionals for leadership, specialist and advisory roles across the global Islamic financial-services industry.
The programme combines advanced Islamic finance theory, Shari’ah principles, banking, investment, capital markets, accounting, risk management, governance, Takaful, FinTech and sustainable finance.
Students examine how Islamic financial institutions operate within increasingly sophisticated global markets while developing the ability to design, analyse, govern and manage Shari’ah-compliant financial products and institutions.

The programme uses 90 ECTS over three semesters, consistent with the European Higher Education Area, where master’s/second-cycle programmes typically comprise 90 or 120 ECTS.
For business-education benchmarking, the programme incorporates global principles around curriculum relevance, ethical judgment, digital capability, experiential learning, research, stakeholder engagement and assurance of learning reflected in the current AACSB Global Standards.
Most importantly, the Islamic finance content should be formally mapped to applicable AAOIFI Shari’ah, accounting, auditing and governance standards. AAOIFI currently publishes standards across these areas and describes its Shari’ah standards as covering banking, insurance, investment banking, capital markets and financing.
