The IBSF International Diploma in Islamic Banking Operations & Financial Management is a two-year professional programme designed to develop specialists capable of working across the operational, financial, compliance and management functions of Islamic financial institutions.
The programme combines the principles of Islamic banking and Shari’ah-compliant finance with practical banking operations, financial accounting, financial management, credit, treasury, liquidity, risk management, governance, compliance, digital banking and strategic financial decision-making.
Students develop an understanding of the principal Islamic finance contracts and structures, including:
- Murabahah
- Mudarabah
- Musharakah
- Ijarah
- Salam
- Istisna’a
- Wakalah
- Qard
- Sukuk
- Islamic investment accounts
The programme goes beyond the study of Islamic finance theory. It focuses on how Islamic financial institutions actually operate, how transactions are processed, how financing is structured, how accounts are maintained, how profits are recognised and distributed, how risks are managed, and how Shari’ah and regulatory requirements are incorporated into institutional operations.
AAOIFI’s standards cover Shari’ah, accounting, auditing, ethics and governance, including financial reporting and accounting treatment for Islamic financial products.
IFSB standards provide complementary international guidance covering risk management, governance, conduct of business, liquidity, capital adequacy, supervisory review and Shari’ah governance for institutions offering Islamic financial services.
