The Certificate in Corporate Banking is an internationally oriented programme designed to prepare learners for careers supporting corporate clients, commercial enterprises, SMEs, institutional customers and large business groups within banks and financial institutions.
The programme focuses on the complete corporate-banking relationship, including corporate account management, relationship banking, financial statement analysis, credit assessment, corporate lending, working-capital finance, trade finance, cash management, treasury services, payments, foreign exchange, risk management and corporate financial advisory.
The programme is benchmarked against international banking practices, including the Basel Core Principles, European Banking Authority approaches to credit origination and monitoring, and U.S. commercial-bank risk-management practices. The Basel framework specifically addresses credit risk, problem exposures, concentration and large exposures, related-party transactions, country and transfer risk, market risk, liquidity and operational risk.
The EBA’s Guidelines on Loan Origination and Monitoring are particularly relevant to corporate banking because they emphasise robust credit-risk standards, borrower assessment, governance and monitoring throughout the credit lifecycle.
U.S. banking supervisory practice similarly places strong emphasis on identifying, measuring, monitoring and controlling credit, market, liquidity, operational, compliance and legal risks.
Programme Aim
To develop globally competent corporate-banking professionals capable of managing business-client relationships, analysing corporate financial information, supporting credit decisions, structuring banking solutions and managing corporate-banking risks.
